Smallie fishing is hot with aggressive females staging to drop their eggs, as weather stays warming, so does the activity. These bass will be up on their redds tomorrow if not already today. They are in 5-6 foot of water, in the wood and spread out. Getting your baits down to the bottom is essential as these fish are not going to come to you. Trollers are doing well on the

The Saturday opener was a beautiful but cool day on Chequamegon Bay!  Fishing was great throughout the late morning/early afternoon.  Bass tended to lie in the deeper channels and were quite heavy with eggs.  The takes were delicate, so be sure to set at any gentle bump.  If you haven't been out to the Cut yet, you really ought to put a hook in the water, but take your winter coat.

Stop by the shop and say "Hi" to Carolyn as you cruise down to 2nd Landing.  Carolyn can set you up with live bait and hints on what lures the bass best!  We have an all new spring line of gear, clothing and accessories for your outdoor pursuits!  Get it while it's hot!

Last night was everything that we anticipated, conditions were perfect, the peepers were peepen! We managed to net 1000lbs., not a tremendous amount, but, this does justify all the hype. Tonight promises to be another good one,
see ya out there! Good netting!

The nets are in, the parking lots full, smelting is in full swing! So far buckets have not been very full..... tonight might be the night, calmer weather, still cold out but the beaches are at max capacity in anticipation of a full net. Beach fires will be roaring, enjoy it!

Nothing in the first nets of 2011, water temps were down (meaning really cold wading), the test netters will try again when the water warms a few degrees. Lake levels seem to be at an all time low.

Recent weather has moved the ice out of Chequamegon bay, and maybe to everyone's surprise, Smelting looks to be right around the corner............. test netting begins tonight. It would be even more of a surprise if the first nets came back full, anything is possible. Watch this post and I will keep you updated, i.e. I will let you know what was in the nets from tonight.

Meanwhile, metal heads are claiming to be in the "peak of the run" in the U.P.. Rivers are raging and thunderstorms have been adding to a good spring runoff. Locally steelies are running the rock, and we are hearing tell of an  abundance of the average 19" range, and a few 29" rod benders. Steelhead season is in full swing.
Trollers are having great success combing the shores of all river mouths for silvers with the occasional steelhead. Saxon harbor boasts fishermen reaching their limit almost daily. There is ice still floating around in the lake, sand cut is full, but these smaller flotillas are on their way out as winds shift to push from the south.

The ice fishing has been hot with Jumbo Perch on the bay being the talk of anglers, however, now is the time to get out there as the shorelines are breaking up. Why not just go to the Bahamas instead? Roger has just returned grinning ear to ear (as per normal) with another successful week in Inagua. He leaves again for two weeks. This is a trip that promises a saltwater fishing trip that we are even hesitant to advertise, as it is truthfuly, some of the best fishing you will find in the Atlantic ocean period.Bonefish, Tarpon, Grouper, Snapper, Lobster, and the list goes on. Deep water, shallow water, inland mangroves, outer reef fishing from shore! Get ready for a trip of a lifetime and the best part is that it is incredibly affordable. Call Roger while he is around and ask him.

The fishing is great! the Ice is great, plenty of snow but people are getting out and catching fish. Be sure and call the shop for the latest update and ice conditions.

Well, this blog is being started before we are even published, so just in case you wanted to hear about our winter, here it is.  Roger and I went to the Ranger Factory for a tour of the new boats and so I could see what Ranger is all about. Up until this trip all I knew was that the boats we run are incredibly user friendly, and that's important when your on the water a lot, after all, if you have a lot of white deck, it better be easy to clean! The factory was impressive and I was amazed at how little mechanized labor was involved, they have crews of a dozen or so people just to roll out each nook and cranny of glass BY HAND!No wonder the boats are so solid!! There is so much to tell, but in summary- don't go to Flippen Arkansas, you might end up buying two or three boats!!!!! Probably one of the best parts of this trip included meeting a few of the other professionals in this trade, some boys from the south- a great connection as these guys offer some of the coolest fishing to be had in the south! Anyone want to catch some REDS!!?? (and I don't mean sockeye).Check out Venice Fishing Lodge down in LA for the real deal redfishing out of some of Ranger's Bay boats, oh, and don't worry, the fishing is hot because noone is doing it because they think those behemouths are covered

Welcome to our new website and report!
We are currently with the Ranger gang down at the factory in Flippen,Ark. what a place!
