Well, not too much to really report on right now. Still lots of ice out on the bay, but at this point everybody agrees that it would be nice to see some open water out there. There are still a few people fishing perch off second landing and a little action going on near the beaches and rivermouths north of Washburn.
After small windows here and there of Steelhead fishing, it's going to be on hold for a few days again after the snow, rain and now the warm temps. The fishing should be prime once this all settles down again.
The smelt will run once the ice gives way; they don't come into spawn into the near shore under the ice. Some smelt have been caught through the ice out in the channel, or near the lighthouse and former oredock.
Let's pray for some open water!
