Just like last year, tomorrows general fishing opener is going to be a little different than most years. Lots of ice on the lakes and high water in the rivers is making things pretty tough around here. There are pockets of open water on the bay, but nothing too substantial yet and it will be a little while until boats can safely navigate without ice pack interference.
The good news with the general opener is that the upper stretches of our rivers our now open for fishing, and some of the spring fed waters will be high, but not dirty.
Still too much ice along the beaches, but things can change quick. It will be at least another week. Stay tuned here for updates on the ice.
