Flood Report

We're now booking Fall Inshore trips.  Contact Capt. Luke:  luke@freshcoastangling.com

In case you haven't heard, Ashland, Iron and Bayfield Counties were recently hit hard with big rains and flooding.  Many area roads were washed out including Hwy 2 East of Ashland, Hwy 63 and Hwy 13.  The result of the rains has made Cheqaumegon Bay extremely dirty, and it looks like it will be a little while before things clean up out there.  The best fishing opportunities right now will be to head out into the Islands and look for Lake Trout.  The trolling out there has been some of the best fishing many guys have seen in a long time.  They're starting to get some really nice fish in the deeper areas as well.  We'll keep you posted on when the Bay starts to clean up, but for now our thoughts go out to those affected by the flooding.

Looking ahead, October dates are filling fast, and with good reason.  Fall is a great time to chase Smallmouth, but it's also a great opportunity to have a shot at a big Brown trout on light tackle or a fly.  Over the past few seasons, we've been targeting these great fish on light tackle, and while it may not be a numbers game, it sure is fun to hook into one of these fish while throwing a fly or hucking a spoon.  Often times the eats are very visual and an exciting fight.  If you're interested in this style of trip, get in touch with Capt. Luke:  luke@freshcoastangling.com for more details.
